Daily Caps Mechanisms
Daily caps represent the maximum amount of an asset that can exit the system within a 24-hour timeframe. Each asset reserve has two specific limits:
New Debt Cap: The total net amount of the asset available for borrowing.
Collateral Withdrawal Cap: The total net amount of collateral that can be withdrawn from the system.
Daily Caps and Protocol Protection
Daily caps safeguard the protocol and its users in two key ways:
Mitigating Exploits: By capping asset withdrawals, they prevent attackers from draining the system in the event of an oracle exploit, minimizing potential damage.
Controlled Debt Growth: Large debt positions can only accumulate gradually, enabling the protocol to monitor their impact on overall system health.
The daily caps for each asset are determined based on the risk framework detailed in this document and are clearly displayed on the asset reserve pages in the user interface.
